On March 13, 2021, the opening ceremony of Level 3 football referee training program was held in the gymnasium on South Campus, Tongji University.
Professor You Songhui, the secretary-general of of the Football Branch of Federation of University Sport of China(FUSC) and dean of the International College of Football, Zuo Xiudi, the technical lecturer and supervisor of referees in Asian Football Confederation(AFC), Wang Di, the executive secretary of Referee Committee of Shanghai Football Association and FIFA international referee, Lou Xiangbao, the deputy secretary-general of Football Association and director of Referee Committee in Yangpu District, Shanghai, and Shen Yinhao, the vice dean of the College and FIFA international referee, attended the ceremony.
The lecturer team of this Level 3 Football Referee Training Program includes Huang Jian, a former international referee of FIFA, Zhan Wei, the referee supervision of Professional League of Chinese Football Association(CFA) and former national assistant referee of CFA, Jin Jun, the current national assistant referee of CFA, Xu Zuo, the female referee supervisor of CFA and technical lecturer of referees in Shanghai Football Association, Zhang Cheng, the current international assistant referee of FIFA, and Yang Jingyong, the former national football referee and competition supervisor of CFA. Also attending the meeting were administrative departments, student representatives and volunteers of the College, as well as all members of this training program.
In his speech, Mr. You Songhui first delivered his thanks to Shanghai Football Association for its strong support to this event. He said that the referee training in 2020 will make great contributions to the football events on campus, and expected students who participated in this program to cherish the opportunity and strive to make remarkable progress.、
In addition, he elaborated the importance of campus football. Tongji Football has always been supporting the development of football on campus over the past hundreds of years. In line with the "training all-round talents" in education practitioners' minds, this training program, as an important way to cultivate referees' reserve talents, provides a learning platform for more potential referees on campus. While improving the capability of student referees, it also helps select outstanding referees in Shanghai referees and contribute to the development of football in Yangpu District.
Mr. Wang Di, the executive secretary of Referee Committee of Shanghai Football Association, said that it is the third time he has participated in the campus football referee training. With the joint efforts of Tongji University, Shanghai Football Association and Football Association of Yangpu District, and a number of excellent referees will be qualified through this training program, which will in turn be increasingly excellent. I wish this event a great success!

It is reported that students who signed up for this training program come from different colleges of Tongji, and nearly half of them are freshmen in College of New Students. Among them, Shi Mingjie, the freshman who is a football fan from Guohao School, said: "A positive football culture on campus has been created in our university, which is one of the reasons for me to apply for Tongji. I didn't expect such a professional and high-standard football training program on campus, so I will take this good opportunity to pass Level 3 tests and continue to participate in the Level 2 training!"
Students who have signed up for this training program will receive the textbook of
Football Competition Rules 2020/2021 and a set of referee uniforms.
At the end of the opening ceremony, all teachers and students of this program took photos together.
